The pinion gear shaft bolt attaches the pinion gear and flywheel to the base of the tablet press. The pinion gear must spin freely on the pinion gear shaft bolt as the flywheel turns. Over time the friction from the spinning may heat and expand bolt. When this happens the gear will lock in place causing the gear teeth to break.
